Salt doesn't announce itself. It just changes everything it touches.

Nobody knew Alex was a Christian for the first six months.

Not because he hid it — he just never announced it. He didn't wear it as an identity badge or open every conversation with it. He just worked.

The way he worked was the announcement.

He responded to sharp emails without sharpness. He gave credit freely when he could have absorbed it. He stayed in the hard conversations instead of deflecting. When a colleague's father died, he was the only one on the team who showed up at the funeral.

At the six-month mark, a colleague asked him directly: "Are you religious? There's something different about you."

The conversation that followed was one of the most natural faith conversations Alex had ever had — not because he'd engineered it, but because he'd been genuinely present and different for six months.

Matthew 5:14 says the light can't be hidden. It doesn't say you have to announce it. Genuine character, lived consistently, creates its own visibility. A life lived differently in the same environment as everyone else is one of the most powerful forms of witness available.

Salt doesn't explain itself. It just works.

Ask yourself honestly: is there anything about how I work that's distinctively different from my non-believing colleagues? If the answer is hard to identify — what's one way you could let your faith make a visible difference this week?

Lord, make me genuinely different in the ways that matter — honest, present, generous, steady. Let my life be the announcement before my words are.
